On March 28, 2007 the Postal Service revealed new Jedi mailboxes and joined forces with star wars, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of star wars. I suspect there may have been some promotional connection with the forever stamp which was released shortly after these stared popping up. There are reportedly 400 of these throughout the country.
